UK Islamic Burial
For families choosing burial in the United Kingdom, UQBAH arranges a dedicated Muslim burial plot oriented towards the Qiblah and oversees the entire interment (defin) in strict accordance with Islamic tradition.
Islam emphasises prompt, dignified burial in a consecrated Muslim section of a cemetery where graves are oriented perpendicular to the Qiblah in Makkah. We liaise directly with local council cemeteries and Muslim burial trusts across London and the UK to secure an appropriate plot without delay.
What Our Local Burial Service Includes
- Dedicated Muslim Cemetery Section: Securing a grave plot within an established Islamic cemetery section aligned towards the Qiblah.
- Sunnah Grave Preparation: Coordinating grave excavation, timber/vault lining where required by UK cemetery regulations, and placement of the deceased on their right side facing the Qiblah.
- Full Interment (Defin) Supervision: Guiding family members during the lowering of the deceased, loosening the shroud ties, placing soil three times from the head side, and filling the grave.
- Qur'an Recitation & Talqin / Du'a: Collective supplication at the graveside asking Allah for steadfastness (thabat) and mercy for the deceased.
- Regular Cemetery Visits & Cleaning: Our regional branches also organise communal cemetery visits, grave cleaning, and Qur'an recitation programmes — especially on the eve of Eid (Arefe).
